Danger and Adventure #24

This 1955 Charlton anthology delivers exactly what its title promises — a cover by Dick Giordano (pencils) and Vince Alascia (inks) showing a white-clad man fending off a powerfully built attacker while a alarmed blonde woman in a green top and red skirt presses close behind him, the whole tense scene framed within what appears to be a ship's hatch or porthole. The composition crackles with close-quarters urgency, pulling you right into the thick of the action. With interior art from Maurice Whitman and Sal Trapani, Danger and Adventure #24 is a fine example of mid-fifties adventure comics firing on all cylinders.
