Damsels: Mermaids #5

Issue five of Dynamite's Damsels: Mermaids closes out the series with a cover bristling with raw, crackling energy — bolts of lightning tear through the composition as a dark-haired woman brandishing a sword stands her ground alongside a roaring, long-mustached warrior channeling what appears to be immense magical power. Looming behind them both is a grotesque, cyclopean creature with a single bloodshot eye and grasping claws, making the stakes of this confrontation feel genuinely dire. If the earlier issues drew you in with fantasy and fairytale atmosphere, this 2013 Dynamite finale promises a suitably charged and dramatic send-off.
