“Cleanliness is Next to Godliness”

The concluding chapter of the "Cosmic Debris Saga" goes out with a gleeful bang, and Ernie Colón's cover makes the ambition clear: practically the entire Marvel universe — Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, the Thing, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, the Punisher, Ghost Rider, and a crowd of civilians and suits — is swept up in a churning wave of cosmic chaos, with cheeky tombstones riffing on Secret Wars and the Infinity Gauntlet planted right in the foreground. It's a wonderfully crowded, affectionate send-up of Marvel's big-event storytelling, with Damage Control's ordinary (and not-so-ordinary) cast caught right in the middle of the superhero pile-up. Dwayne McDuffie's sharp comic sensibility pairs perfectly with Colón's expressive, wall-to-wall composition for a satisfying finish to the series.

The Silver Surfer takes the heads of Damage Control into the farthest reaches of space to take a meeting with the most powerful cosmic entities in the universe. They command Edifice Rex to appear before them and justify his use of the powers he has obtained. Rex tells them that he has discovered that the universe is a very messy place and he plans on putting all of reality back into the Cosmic Egg from which it sprung. After returning to earth, Damage Control gathers an awesome roster of earth's heroes to face off with Rex but John Porter has a simple idea to stop Rex in his cosmic tracks.
