“The Big Hype”

The third chapter of this four-issue limited series plants a battered Iron Man front and center, his armor cracked and sparking, while the Damage Control crew scrambles around him in matching white jumpsuits — one quipping "I knew we'd get into trouble wearing these costumes!" as another reassures everyone it's "good for business." Ernie Colón's cover perfectly captures the series' winning premise: ordinary cleanup professionals navigating the very extraordinary chaos that superheroes leave behind. With Dwayne McDuffie's story titled "The Big Hype — It Was a Disaster!" and a Spider-Man guest-star box in the corner, issue #3 looks like a delightfully chaotic entry in one of Marvel 1989's most cleverly conceived miniseries.
