“Edifice Wrecks”

Marvel's beloved clean-up crew is back in Damage Control #2, with cover art by Ernie Colón placing the action squarely outside Yankee Stadium, where the newly introduced Edifice Rex — a massive, green-skinned brute — sends bystanders and at least one kid on a skateboard scrambling in every direction. A red-helmeted figure, a flying redhead, and a blonde woman soaring overhead signal the guest appearance of the New Warriors, while a Damage Control truck and a bewildered man in a suit round out this wonderfully chaotic scene. Writer Dwayne McDuffie's sharp comedic sensibility shines through even on the cover — "Cleanliness in the Mighty Marvel Manner!" promises exactly the kind of superhero-aftermath absurdity this series does so well.
