“The Tree”

In "The Tree," a holiday evening takes a supernatural turn when Jenny, Stephanie, and her children face muggers—only to be saved by the mysterious Captain Manhattan. The next night, their quiet moment at Rockefeller Plaza is disrupted when the paranormal gang Para-Troop targets the Christmas tree, hoping to lure the hero into a trap. With Jenny (as Chrome), Dave (as Mastodon), and Randy (as Antibody) stepping in to help, the team must protect the tree and keep the city safe. Written by Mark Gruenwald and illustrated by Paul Ryan, with inks by Danny Bulanadi, colors by Paul Becton, and letters by Janice Chiang, the cover by Ryan and Bulanadi captures the festive tension perfectly.

While Jenny helps Stephanie and her children bring a Christmas tree back to their apartment, they are attacked by muggers. They are able to defeat the muggers with the help of the paranormal “superhero”, Captain Manhattan, who was passing by. The next evening, the group are at Rockefeller Plaza when Para-Troop, a paranormal gang, attempts to steal the Plaza's Christmas tree in order to attract Captain Manhattan's attention. Jenny (first as Chrome), Dave (as Mastodon) and Randy (as Antibody) aid Captain Manhattan in stopping the villains. Dave offers to drive Stephanie back home to Sheboygan.
