Cutter #4

The cover of Cutter #4 from Image/Top Cow says everything you need to know about the tone of this series — a pale, monstrous face with burning yellow eyes and a wide, gold-toothed snarl fills the frame, its features fractured as though viewed through a shattered mirror, blood spattering the broken shards above. Christian DiBari's cover pencils and inks deliver something genuinely unsettling, using that fragmented reflection motif to amplify the horror in a way that lingers. Writers Robert Napton and Seamus Kevin Fahey, with interior art by Maan House, have clearly crafted a horror series with real teeth — and this 2014 issue makes a strong case for checking it out.
