Crypt of Horror #7
"Cavern of the Doomed" is a standout entry in the Crypt of Horror series, featuring a chilling, surreal tale drawn entirely by Bill Everett, who handled art, inks, and lettering with a distinctive, eerie precision. When Clark’s expedition uncovers a golden totem pole from an Inuit survivor, their journey home takes a terrifying turn as they mysteriously shrink—each time returning to reclaim the artifact, only to vanish again. The story unfolds with a creeping dread, culminating in a transformation that redefines the line between man and relic.

Clark's men find an Inuit who has a golden totem pole. They take the pole, but when nearly home they awaken to find they've shrunk over night and the totem is gone. They return to reclaim the totem, but the same thing happens again as they near home. Each of Clark's men abandon him as he becomes shorter until he's transformed into a face on the totem pole by aliens, friends of the Inuit man.
