Cry Havoc #1
From Image Comics in 2016, Cry Havoc #1 launches Simon Spurrier and Ryan Kelly's dark new series with a cover that's genuinely hard to shake — a massive, shadowy creature fills the frame in deep blues, its glowing eye and snarling, feral face emerging from a tangle of scratchy, almost feverish linework by Kelly. The atmosphere is all dread and wild energy, and with three colorists — Nick Filardi, Lee Loughridge, and Matt Wilson — the book already signals an ambitious, unconventional approach. "Dog Days" is a story title that feels like both a promise and a warning.
