The cover by Charles Biro sets the tone perfectly: a bloodied captive is forced to hold a ransom note at a cluttered table by lamplight, while armed figures crowd a tense, rundown room — a scene that captures the gritty urgency the series was known for in its prime. With interior art by George Tuska, this 2015 hardcover is a handsome way to experience some of crime comics' most gripping storytelling.
