This issue contains two crime stories. The first features Nick, a gangster from Bayonne who is invited to a party by old acquaintances seeking his counsel; the story reveals how his boastful nature and past misdeeds lead to his undoing when the partygoers turn out to be orchestrating his downfall. The second story, "The Murderous Benders," is presented as an old-time true crime account set in 1866 Kansas, detailing a farmer named John Bender and his family who murdered travelers and robbed them, ultimately leading to their capture and violent end at the hands of vigilant citizens.
