# Crime and Punishment #57 A criminal named Louie, who has bribed jurors and intimidated witnesses to escape justice, attempts to hide stolen jewelry and evade law enforcement by driving away in his car. Threatened by those who know his methods, Louie flees town but is pursued; after eluding police and hiding the stolen goods in a garage, he is eventually caught and brought to trial. The story concludes with the revelation that the pawnbroker Van Naldi, the garage owner Jess Moeller, and others involved in Louie's operations are arrested as the criminal underworld connected to his activities is exposed to authorities.
