Lee Forest—known to his comrades as 'Yellow Eyes' for his striking gaze and feline grace—recounts a haunting wartime debt in a tale drawn with sharp, expressive detail by Dick Ayers. Years after surviving a near-fatal ambush in Africa, Forest is drawn back to the wild when his long-lost savior faces mortal danger from a lion, forcing a reckoning with the past. The story's eerie atmosphere is matched by Steve Ditko’s striking cover art, rendered in inks by Rocco Mastroserio.

Sgt. Lee Forest, nick-named 'Yellow Eyes' by the other members of his platoon, is a giant of a man, with an almost cat-like way of moving. Serving in Africa during World War II, his life is saved by another member of the platoon. Both men go their separate ways after the war, though both remain in Africa. When his savior is attacked by a lion, Forest emerges from the jungle and calls it off. His debt repayed, 'Yellow Eyes' returns to his true home - the depths of the jungle.
