“If in Battle I Fall---!”

In "If in Battle I Fall---!", bumbling Frankie Nesbitt stumbles into a dreamlike adventure when a knock on the head transports him to the year 516, where he’s thrust into the legend of King Arthur and handed the fabled sword Excalibur by the Knights of the Round Table. Awakening back in his schoolyard, Frankie can’t believe his experience—until he realizes the sword he’s holding is no mere dream. With art by John Rosenberger and a striking cover by Barry Windsor-Smith, Gene Colan, and John Romita, inked by Johnny Craig and John Romita, this 1971 issue blends myth and schoolyard humor in a story that leaves readers wondering: what happens when legend walks into the classroom?
