“Coyote Catches Roadrunner”

Steve Englehart's supernatural speedster tears across the cover of this April 1984 Epic Comics release, with Coyote blasting forward in a streak of lightning-yellow energy, an ACME-labeled rope swirling wildly around him as he races toward a signpost marked "East Eden." The "BEE-BEEP!" sound effect and the teasing "NOW WHAT?" caption give the whole thing a wonderfully sly, Looney Tunes-flavored energy — perfectly fitting a story titled "Coyote Catches Roadrunner." Chas Truog's cover art captures the kinetic chaos of the character with real flair, making this a fun snapshot of Marvel's early-'80s creator-driven imprint at its most playful.
