The main story features Lone Star Smokey, a prospector from his earlier days who has struck gold and decides to deposit it in the town bank for safekeeping. When bandits led by Slughead Barton's gang hijack the stagecoach carrying the gold, Smokey pursues them, leading to a chase and tunnel collapse. After escaping the tunnel collapse and recovering the gold, Smokey becomes a local hero, with the townspeople rallying behind him and even campaigning for him to become president.
