Jane, an outlaw girl, breaks jail and flees with her lover Bruce, but he is shot and killed by Sheriff Lanning before they can escape together. Facing false charges and unable to clear her name without Bruce's company, Jane is cornered by a posse but rescued by the arrival of Jim Brown and others who help her evade capture. In a second narrative, Jeff falls in love with Amy while searching for a man named Charley, and after locating him in a mine with help from locals, Jeff and Amy build a life together on a remote hillside, eventually planning to marry and start a ranch in the territory.
