“The Red Lanterns”

In "The Red Lanterns," Hugo Pratt crafts a taut, atmospheric chapter of his legendary Corto Maltese saga, following the wanderer as he journeys through war-torn Siberia with a motley crew of allies. As Corto and his companions join forces with General Serghey Semenov’s armored train, the line between loyalty and betrayal blurs—especially when a deadly confrontation erupts between rival factions, culminating in a desperate race to secure a stolen fortune. With Pratt’s masterful storytelling and expressive artwork—both interior and on the cover—this 1988 NBM issue delivers a gripping, character-driven tale steeped in historical tension and quiet tragedy.
