Convert #2 from Image Comics plunges deeper into whatever unsettling transformation this series has in store, and Simon Gane's cover makes a striking case for picking it up. The image presents a tangle of pale blue, skeletal figures — some clutching scythes — intertwined with writhing pink tendrils and wrapped in masses of shaggy brown fur or hair, piled atop a fallen skull-faced creature in a golden, overgrown landscape. It's the kind of visceral, otherworldly imagery that writer John Arcudi and artist Savannah Finley seem purpose-built to explore.
