Convergence Suicide Squad #1

Part of DC's 2015 Convergence event, this opening chapter of "When Kingdoms Fall" brings together one of comics' most unpredictable teams under some very watchful eyes. John Paul Leon's cover places two composed, authoritative women front and center — one in a sharp business suit clutching a clipboard, the other poised behind her — while a volatile lineup assembles in the background: a steely Cyborg Superman, Deathstroke, Poison Ivy, the Trigger Twins, and Bane, all looming like trouble waiting to be deployed. Writer Frank Tieri and artist Tom Mandrake are a fitting pair for a story about expendable villains forced into impossible situations, and with two issues to tell their tale, there's not a panel to spare.
