Conan the Barbarian #228

The cover of issue #228 says it all — Conan is bound and suspended upside-down, surrounded by a leering, wild-eyed mob whose expressions leave little doubt about the menu, punctuated by the tagline "Guess Who's Coming for Dinner?" Rod Ramos's cover linework crackles with chaotic energy, cramming the composition with grasping hands and ghoulish faces that press in from every angle. With Gerry Conway scripting "Red Teeth" and Dwayne Turner on interior art, this 1990 entry in Marvel's long-running sword-and-sorcery series promises Conan in about as dire a predicament as the Hyborian Age can conjure.
