Against a blazing red background, John Buscema's cover for this August 1982 issue puts Conan at the center of a ferocious brawl, sword raised as he wades through a crush of armed opponents on what appears to be a wooden ship's deck. Bodies and blades are scattered everywhere — fallen foes, flailing attackers in colorful tunics, and scattered swords underfoot — conveying the glorious, chaotic energy that made this series a Marvel mainstay. Inside, writer Bruce Jones and artist Alfredo Alcala bring "Titan's Gambit" to life, with lettering by Janice Chiang and colors by George Roussos rounding out a creative team firing on all cylinders.
