This May 1982 issue of Conan the Barbarian delivers one of the series' most visually striking covers, with Gil Kane's artwork presenting a nightmarish snake-woman — her head a writhing mass of serpents and her red eyes blazing — surrounded by a seething tangle of colorful, fanged snakes in every hue. A lone armored warrior, sword and shield in hand, stands his ground against this terrifying supernatural threat amid flickering flames in the background. It's a wonderfully lurid slice of sword-and-sorcery dread that captures everything fans love about Robert E. Howard's world brought to vivid Marvel life.
