Conan stands bare-chested and battle-ready in a field of tall grass, gripping a heavily ornamented weapon at his side while a massive winged creature looms in the murky purple sky behind him — a cover image by Rafael Kayanan that sets an immediately ominous tone for "Of Wings and Warriors." A fallen armored figure and a large curved horn lie in the foreground, hinting at a conflict already well underway. This February 1995 Marvel issue finds Roy Thomas's Cimmerian squarely in the kind of wild, dangerous terrain where the barbarian adventurer is most at home.
