In "La cosa del templo," Conan and Fafnir escape the collapsing city of Bal-Sagoth after battling demonic horrors beneath its temples, fleeing just as the island erupts in fire and ruin. Swept into the Vilayet Sea, they are rescued by the enigmatic Yezdigerd, whose own secrets may be as dangerous as the temple's dark legacy.

In "¡Halcones sobre el mar!", Conan finds himself deep in enemy territory during the siege of Makkalet, where the air hums with dread and the sea whispers ancient secrets. As the Turanian forces press their assault, Conan crosses paths with the enigmatic Balthaz and witnesses a deadly strike from a flaming arrow that wounds Fafnir—just as the legend of the Living Tarim begins to stir in the shadows.

In "¡El negro sabueso de la venganza!", Conan and Fafnir sail under the banner of Turan, their ship anchored near the city of Makkalet. When Conan ventures into the forbidden Temple of Tarim to steal the living god, he is driven out after slaying a fearsome black hound and barely escapes with his life. Fafnir, wounded and betrayed, is cast into the sea by the cruel Balthaz, but Conan’s fury ignites when he learns the truth—his rage leads him to confront Balthaz and flee the ship, leaving behind a trail of blood and vengeance.
