Conan #8/1998
In "Death Song," Conan finds himself caught between the merciless Zuagir raiders and a deadly expedition from the city-state of Shushan, sent to appease or destroy the god Kah-Tah-Dhen. With the warrior woman Vivalda at his side, he rescues the intended sacrifice and uncovers a horrifying truth: the deity they worship is not divine, but a colossal spider. Written by Charles Dixon and Henrik Hårdråde, with art by Ernie Chan and inks by the same, this 1998 issue features a striking cover by George Pratt.
In "Reflections of Evil," Conan and Red Sonja ride southward, unaware that the sorcerer Tuzun Thune—disguised as the Pictish shaman Gonar—has sent twisted reflections of themselves northward to manipulate the Cossacks. As shadows of their former selves lead a brutal campaign, the real heroes must confront the darkness that mirrors their own.
In "The Decapitating God," Conan joins a doomed expedition from the city-state of Shushan, sent to appease or destroy the fearsome deity Kah-Tah-Dhen. Alongside the fierce warrior woman Vivalda, he survives the desert's perils only to uncover a horrifying truth: the god is no divine being, but a monstrous giant spider.
