Conan #6
This Dark Horse trade collecting Conan: The Hand of Nergal, by Timothy Truman and Tomás Giorello, announces itself with a cover that wastes no time — a bare-chested, long-haired Conan raises his blade overhead with a battle-cry as a press of armored undead soldiers closes in around him, all grasping claws and skeletal faces. Looming above the chaos is a grotesque, worm-riddled supernatural visage that makes clear the threat here goes well beyond ordinary steel and shield. It's a striking 2008 package from two creators who clearly relish the sword-and-sorcery end of the Hyborian Age at its most visceral.
