“On Active Service”

In "On Active Service," former servant Henry Bloome finds himself an officer in the Second World War, a far cry from his roots with the Rockliffe family, where service was a lifelong duty. Now commanding a new recruit, he’s stunned to discover just who that soldier is—someone whose presence ties back to the very family he left behind. Jeff Bevan’s cover captures the weight of that moment, while the story unfolds with quiet tension and unexpected turns.

When the Second World War started, Henry Bloome quit his job as a servant with the Rockliffe family, breaking a tradition that went back hundreds of years. He joined the army, eager to be on active service, determined to do well. He didn't think he'd end up an officer though, with a servant of his own. And he certainly never dreamed who that servant was going to be!
