The story follows the intertwined fates of a light-skinned slave switched at birth with a white child in pre-Civil War Missouri, and the eccentric lawyer Pudd'nhead Wilson who uses fingerprinting to solve a murder mystery. This edition presents Twain's satirical take on race and identity in a graphic narrative format.
"Pudd'nhead Wilson" delivers a gripping courtroom drama rooted in identity and deception, as a lawyer's meticulous fingerprinting reveals a shocking truth: two boys switched at birth—one a slave, the other a white heir. Written by Samuel L. Clemens and illustrated with striking detail by Henry Kiefer, this 1997 Classics Illustrated adaptation brings Mark Twain’s sharp social commentary to life with period-accurate art and a story that unfolds with quiet precision. The cover by Clem Robins captures the tension of the moment with a dramatic, noir-tinged portrait.
