Choker #2

The second chapter of this six-part Image series announces itself with one of 2010's more unsettling cover images — a blood-drenched, wide-mouthed figure looming over the viewer, clutching a knife and a fork in a pose that's equal parts menacing and grotesque. Ben Templesmith's cover work bathes the whole scene in smeared crimson and burnt amber, giving it a visceral, almost fever-dream quality that suits a story subtitled "...Where Angels Go to Die." If you're already following Ben McCool and Templesmith's dark vision, this installment promises to keep the tension right where it left off.
