Chio's School Road #2

Tadataka Kawasaki frames the ordinary morning commute as anything but in this second volume of Chio's School Road. The cover says it all: Chio, in her sailor-style school uniform with her braided hair and taped glasses, reaches dramatically toward the viewer while a fiery explosion blazes behind her — the gap between "high school student" and "action hero" has never looked so entertainingly narrow. It's a genuinely charming series that finds big comedic energy in the small chaos of just trying to get to class on time.
