Chic Young's Dagwood Comics #139

This Giant-Size Harvey Comics entry from 1965 captures Dagwood in gloriously chaotic form — decked out in Native American costume with beads, feathers, and war paint, reacting in wide-eyed panic as arrows whiz past him (one skewering his towering sandwich) while Blondie looks on in a cowgirl outfit. Paul Fung Jr.'s cover art packs in the full Bumstead family fun, with thumbnail portraits of Blondie, Mr. Dithers, the Katzenjammer Kids, and The Little King teasing the bumper anthology of strips inside. At 25 cents for a giant-size collection written and drawn by Chic Young, this is a cheerful snapshot of mid-'60s newspaper-strip comics at their most entertainingly silly.
