This January 1968 Charlton Western pits the Cheyenne Kid against serious frontier firepower, as the cover by Luis Dominguez places our yellow-scarved hero front and center, pistol blazing with a burst of flame, while a menacing bearded figure in a wide-brimmed hat looms large behind him and an armored battle wagon rolls through a smoky, chaotic scene. The title "The Battle Wagons!" promises the kind of rolling, hard-hitting Western action that made Charlton's frontier books so enjoyable at just 12 cents. Interior art from Bill Fraccio and Tony Tallarico ensures the excitement carries well beyond that striking cover.
