“Rendezvous with Revenge!”

This March 1969 DC entry sends the Challengers of the Unknown into a tense urban confrontation, with a red-haired figure crouching on a rooftop as a towering, ghastly green creature looms overhead — flanked by two more monstrous forms — while the team rushes in from the background to even the odds. Joe Kubert's cover work gives the scene a gritty, atmospheric urgency, bathing the cityscape in an eerie nocturnal palette that makes the threat feel genuinely menacing. "Rendezvous with Revenge!" promises exactly the kind of high-stakes adventure that made this team DC's go-to daredevils for the strange and dangerous.

The Challengers fly to a kidnapped Tino, aided by Red's ability to see what Tino sees, while the unseen Om, "Master of the Netherworlds," watches the Legion. First the Challs must face the reluctant mummy Tukamenon. The Challs feign death, and Tukamenon, freed of his servitude, rushes to kill Kaftu. Three Challs rush in claiming the mummy killed Prof! Maddok appears, claiming to be a messenger of Om, and throws a flash bomb, exposing that he is Prof. The Legion begs Om to save them. Om whisks the castle away, leaving the Challs behind, with Tino and Red's sight no longer mystically linked.
