Cerebus Church & State #9
In "Carroll E. King Reads," Dave Sim delivers another sharp, hilariously awkward chapter in Cerebus' misadventures as he stumbles through the rigid world of nobility. The story's standout moment—Cerebus' tail popping out mid-introduction, much to the dismay of a dignified matron—captures the series' signature blend of absurdity and social satire. With all art and writing by Dave Sim, and his distinctive style on full display both inside and on the cover, this issue remains a standout in the Church & State saga.

A series of vignettes displaying Cerebus' total ineptitude at being part of the nobility. My personal favorite: His pants are too tight, and just as he is introduced to a distinguished upper-class matron, his tail pops out of his fly. "Cerebus told you his britches were too tight."
