When a murder investigation calls scientist and big-game hunter Jim Braden to lead an expedition into the mysterious jungles of Central Africa to search for a legendary herd of pigmy elephants, he convinces the expedition's sponsors to let him bring his new bride Betty along as their honeymoon. But what begins as an adventure soon turns into a desperate fight for survival when the party encounters the fierce tribe of giant pigmies—and discovers the fate of a previous explorer. Jim Braden must use his wits and courage to outwit their captors and uncover the truth behind the jungle's deadly secrets.
Mickey and Katie of the Little Leaders stumble onto something far darker than a school scavenger hunt when they witness a man plunge through ice on Deep River—and later discover it might not be what it seemed. When their hunt for supplies leads them to Judge Clayborn's house, they uncover a conspiracy involving the supposedly dead man, a murder, and an insurance scheme that puts them in mortal danger.
