Casper the Friendly Ghost finds himself in a tight spot on this 1953 Harvey cover — quite literally, as two startled anthropomorphic characters scramble to hold a wire cage around the little ghost, who phases right through it with his trademark wide-eyed expression. It's a wonderfully funny setup that captures everything charming about Paramount Pictures' famous star: no matter what anyone tries, you simply can't contain a friendly ghost. At ten cents, this was pure lighthearted fun for young readers of the era.
