Captain Universe / X-23 #1

This 2006 Marvel one-shot brings together two compelling characters as X-23 — her retractable claws blazing with blue energy — takes center stage on Daniel Acuña's striking cover, eyes white with cosmic power and the cover copy promising she's now possessed by a cosmic force. The series of which this is the third chapter also features a guest appearance by Scorpion, making "Double Threat" an apt title for what looks to be a charged, high-stakes chapter. Jay Faerber scripts with Francis Portela on interior art, a solid creative team to handle X-23 at her most dangerously unpredictable.
