This Fawcett gem from 1946 promises "An Amazing Yarn" — quite literally — as the cover by C. C. Beck shows Captain Marvel mid-leap, trailing an apparently endless tangle of string that has ensnared a white-bearded old man and a green-clad figure at his feet, while a dramatic burst of light flares off to the right. The playful visual pun and the bold red-and-yellow of the World's Mightiest Mortal make this one of those covers that stops you cold at the newsstand. Otto Binder and Pete Costanza round out the creative team inside, bringing "Captain Marvel and the Endless String" — plus a bonus adventure taking the Big Red Cheese to Columbus, Ohio — all for just ten cents.
