This September 1978 issue of Marvel's "spaceborn super-hero" puts Captain Marvel in serious trouble, as the cover — penciled by Dave Cockrum and inked by Joe Rubinstein — shows him reeling backward under a devastating energy blast fired by a green-skinned, skull-emblazoned villain in magenta. The tagline "Death Cries the Destroyer!" sets an appropriately urgent tone for the confrontation unfolding across that vivid blue cityscape backdrop. With interior work from writer Doug Moench and artists Pat Broderick and Bob McLeod, this is a sharply crafted slice of late-Bronze-Age Marvel cosmic adventure.
