Captain America #7
Part of Rick Remender's Marvel NOW! run, this 2013 issue of Captain America presents a cover by John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson that radiates intensity — a battered, battle-worn Cap braces his shield against a massive, grinning mechanical monstrosity looming overhead with glowing orange eyes, while a young gun-toting companion stands defiant at his side. The title "Ashes of Our Fathers" suggests the weight of legacy bearing down on these figures, perfectly mirrored in the desperate, outnumbered tableau Romita and Janson craft here. Dean White's fiery crimson atmosphere ties the whole image together, making this one of the more visually arresting covers of the series' 2013 run.
