“Tomorrow You Live, Tonight I Die!”

In "Tomorrow You Live, Tonight I Die!", Steve Rogers faces a deadly ambush by HYDRA assassins under Madame Hydra’s orders, setting off a tense chase that leads to a shocking twist: a mysterious message causes Rick Jones to hallucinate, and when he’s abducted, Cap must fight through a Hydra robot to find him. Written by Stan Lee and Jim Steranko, with art and cover by Steranko, this 1969 Marvel classic blends espionage, psychological tension, and a haunting final scene where Cap’s fate is left in doubt—only his costume and a mask with Rogers’ face found in the river.

Cap is ambushed by HYDRA assassins at the command of Madame Hydra. The mission fails and later Rick Jones joins Cap in a training session. Alone, Rick picks up a message meant for Cap that causes him to hallucinate. Abducted by Hydra Cap searches for Rick and is attacked by a Hydra robot. Rick escapes & tries to warn Cap, who realizes he could make a good partner. Cap appears to leap from a rooftop into the river through a barrage of HYDRA gunfire. The police only find his costume and a mask with the facial features of Steve Rogers, suggesting "Rogers" was a fake identity.
