The issue contains multiple Candy stories. In one story, Candy arrives late to school after a tie-up on the road, makes excuses to her teacher Miss Graves, and must complete an algebra assignment with help from Ted Dawson. In another story, Candy encounters her friend Tina at a soda fountain, where Tina is upset about losing her boyfriend and complains about a boy named Boris Benchley; Candy later tries to convince Tina to go out with her instead of staying home, but Tina has promised to babysit for her Aunt Sophie. The opening cover scene shows Candy at a beach with friends, where Ted remarks that a character named "Mahoulahan" hasn't looked her way all day.
