Candy #1

The main story follows Candy as she attempts to cheer up Judge Ames by giving him a flower garden, hoping to improve his mood so he will show leniency in sentencing an arsonist to death. When the judge proves unreceptive, Candy and her friend Ted devise a scheme involving a marmalade session and assembling a gang for the judge's benefit. Later, Candy manages to secure rare first-edition books from a man named Konrat, paying $500 for the collection, which she presents to the judge in hopes of winning his favor. The story concludes with domestic comedy as Candy juggles her relationship with Ted while managing various schemes and social situations.
