Cable: Love and Chrome #1

History

The series was announced in September 2024 and exclusively revealed by ComicBook.com, with writer David Pepose — a self-described lifelong X-Men fan who grew up reading Cable during the 1990s — pitching the book as a deliberate attempt to strip the character back to his most emotionally resonant elements: time-travel and the Techno-Organic Virus. Pepose has noted in interviews that the post-Hope Summers, post-Krakoa landscape gave him a natural emotional starting point — Cable adrift after his adoptive daughter's death, burying grief in ceaseless mission work. Artist Mike Henderson, whose prior Marvel work includes Daredevil and Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan, described the project as one he had long wanted to do and rearranged his schedule to accommodate. Editor Tom Brevoort oversaw the series, with cover art by Ian Churchill — a name closely associated with Cable's 1990s heyday — whose involvement carried deliberate nostalgic resonance for the creative team.
