Cable #50

Cable's 50th issue arrives as a double-sized special, and the cover by José Ladrönn and Juan Vlasco makes a bold statement: a white-haired, grimacing Cable charges forward in his signature blue-and-gold armor, an enormous glowing weapon leveled straight at the reader against a backdrop of dark industrial machinery. The story title "Behold: The Harbinger of Apocalypse" splashed across the bottom gives the milestone issue a suitably weighty sense of occasion. With James Robinson writing and Ladrönn's kinetic linework throughout, this 1998 landmark feels like a genuine high-water mark for the series.
