Volume 18 of Laudec and Cauvin's beloved Belgian series finds young Cédric and his dark-haired companion blissfully oblivious to the chaos surrounding them — eyes closed, noses nearly touching in a tender moment aboard a grinning skull-shaped ride car. The joke, of course, is that "Eindelijk Alleen!" ("Finally Alone!") is anything but, as a Frankenstein's monster, a mummy, a swamp creature, and a skeletal ghoul crowd in from every direction. It's a wonderfully funny setup that captures the series' warm, slapstick heart in a single glance.
