The heavily armored figure sprawled across a bed of massive industrial gears on Travis Charest's painted cover sets a striking, almost disorienting tone for this second issue of Jim Lee's C-23. The cyborg warrior — wired up, weapon in hand, caught in what looks like a moment of collapse or vulnerability — is rendered with Charest's characteristic technical precision, every mechanical detail gleaming. With Mariotte writing and Lozano on interiors, this 1998 WildStorm/Image series clearly has a strong creative team pushing its sci-fi aesthetic hard.
