Buffy Summers stands her ground in a moonlit graveyard, stake in hand and surrounded on all sides by snarling, red-eyed monsters and a leering vampire — a tense cover image that captures her vulnerability and resolve in equal measure. Joe Bennett's pencils (inked by Rene Micheletti and Jack Jadson) give the scene real atmosphere, with the shadowy tombstones and twisted trees pressing in around her. The second chapter of The Origin, written by Joss Whedon, Christopher Golden, and Daniel Brereton, continues this 1999 Dark Horse adaptation of Buffy's early days as the Slayer.
