Buffalo Bill and his young indigenous friend the Cheyenne Kid are on the run, pursued by War Hawk and his braves. Together they capture and tame a wild mustang, which the Kid claims as his own. Engaged in conversation the Kid tells Bill that his father, Cheyenne Chief Gray Wolf, is in conflict with War Hawk, who has been promised liquor, guns and ponies by Scarface Tate, an enemy of Bill's, in exchange for the killings of all other white men. Soon they are joined by settler Chippy in their trek, when they encounter one of War Hawk's patrols.
